Politics and boyfriends
So today I was thinking about politics (I know, how rare) and about the book "He's Just Not That Into You" (which I found hilarious). And I had this fabulous insight:
Understanding politics isn't complicated. It's just like understanding boyfriends.
Like:
A good boyfriend is one whose words match his actions. A bad boyfriend is one who says one thing but his actions show another.
Example in boyfriends: he says he loves you, but he treats you bad and steals your cash.
Example in politicians: he says that you're his favorite constituent, but he gives all your tax-money in perks to the Big Business across the state (that cheap ho!)
Like:
Some people stay with boyfriends who treat them bad. There's a whole industry based on trying to understand why.
Example in boyfriends: she says he's a good guy really, he loves her. it's just that she isn't good enough, that's why he treats her bad.
Example in politicians: we say that elected spineless guy is a good politician really, it's just that they've had to make choices for political reasons that don't match their REAL feelings.
I think this metaphor can be extended again and again and again...
