May. 14th, 2005

So, after about a month and a half of a steady schedule of a)reading angsty young adult novels and analyzing them for class, b) overeating chocolate chip cookies and coffee and breaking out horrifically as I relive traumatic scenes from my adolescence brought back to mind by the aforementioned novels of part a), c) never going to the gym because of a) and b), well, classes are over and life is returning to normal.

I conquered my usual aversion to paperwork today, and got my Renewal FAFSA in for next year, finally registered in the official online service for my Fall classes, completed my Summer 2005 financial aid app. which I can fax in on Monday, and also printed out my resume and finished my rough draft fill-out of the form I've been putting off filling out for two months which will be my application to volunteer at the Chicago Public Library. I also submitted a story to Kelley Armstrong's nifty online contest. I'll hear how that turned out for the folks who submitted in the ridiculously quick turnaround time of just this coming June 1st.

I'm feeling remarkably productive. And my slow attempts to crack down on my graduate school weight gain are beginning to have measurable (albeit minute) effects. With any luck I won't be forced to buy a whole new wardrobe for my last year of grad school. I'm taking advantage of the month long break before summer class starts to try and get in the habit of going to the gym again.

I never was an athletic kid, I just freakishly managed to be all physically fit for two measly years, and now I can't bear to go back to being all squashy and flabby. Very weird how quickly body image can change.

Still on today's agenda: cleaning, dishes, laundry, wedding thank you notes. I'm closing in on that very generous YEAR they give you to send out thank you notes. We only finished sending out announcements a month or so ago, and I have a nagging suspicion I forgot a few people on my side of the family. For J.'s side I kept a list, but I thought, "oh, I'll remember which of my relatives I sent announcements to!" Hah.
