Ok, I was just reading the blog of my favorite vampire-novelist, Laurell K. Hamilton, and she said that the U.S. had refused aid from other countries for the hurricane victims here. Since I'd been making a pretty thorough effort to avoid hearing anything about the hurricane, this was news to me. but if so, how unspeakably lame. anyway, her website is http://www.laurellkhamilton.org (the blog is under a link somewhere, I forget where), and anything I'd say on that is just a recap of her post so I won't.
read Clare Dunkle's newest by "By These Ten Bones" yesterday - I think it's one of those books that I would have enjoyed if it had been, say, one of the first ten or twelve fantasy/werewolf stories I'd read as a kid. But since I'd read a ton already, its plotting and revelation and all just didn't quite do it for me - it's no fun to be 100 pages ahead of the plot in a 200 page book.
