Feeling more back on balance after a nice book binge last night - read a grown up regular fiction novel (*gasp* - not a mystery/fantasy/comic/romance/young adult book! whatever will I do) because the total break from my normal thought patterns was relaxing. "Sharing Sean" was the title, and it was a very amusing brit-fic book about a bunch of late thirty/early forty something women hatching this plot to share one (unbelievably perfect seeming) guy, so that each of them could get what they wanted emotionally/physically (all wanted different things, none ready to commit all the way...)

I had a few nitpics with the plot - I thought it was a bit annoying that the lowerclass people got together at the end, the upperclass people got together at the end, etc.

But then I thought about it, and really, the odds are that you will get together with someone of your background. I'm just so used to the network TV version of dating, where everyone slogs through these really oddly matched pairings. In any case, it was cute. Tonight I read the first volume of the "Mary Jane" comic and am reading the first volume of "Fruits Basket". I'm surprised that I like both - I often forget how much I like very simple, G-rated stories. Fruits Basket especially is much more emotionally thoughtful than I had expected it to be - I think I like these girl-type manga books better than the adult-rated boy type ones.
