The author's mind is not subtle

I saw a book at Borders that was a photo-essay of feral cats in the city. Soooo cute, the way they skulked through the urban wasteland. And I thought "the city in my story should have feral urban cat-people".

Pretty direct connection there.

So far this city has:
Elvish slaves
Feral urban cat-people
Ghosts of a previously conquered tribe
Smuggling tunnels
Magician's guilds
Elizabethan theaters
Weird sacred goddess-y wells
Catacombs
Cathedrals
Big bridges with houses on them

it is a very busy city, I think.
