Me and subculture
Jun. 7th, 2008 07:51 pmWhen it comes to subculture, I'm pretty much a dabbler. My membership in "Geek" is firmly established (hello, voluntary reading of Early Modern social history, knowledge of at least one computer programming language, past history of playing Dungeons and Dragons, frequenting of comic shops, studying Latin at summer camp, and career choice of Librarian!), but past dabblings in subcultures such as Punk have led my friends to fall over laughing and rolling around so hard that they spill their local microbrew beer.
When it comes to Goth, I think my nearest approach to the subculture is summed up by this Scary Go Round guest comic:
in this scenario, I would be the brunette with the glasses.
I mean, sure, I own a skull encrusted leather collar, but it's baby doll pink, and it's an actual dog collar from the dog store. It's the little details that I never get right.
