That Teenage Feeling
Nov. 27th, 2006 02:13 pmSo I listened to the Fantasticks Original off-broadway cast album a lot last month, and my copy of Neko Case's "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood", and they combined in my head into this need to make a friend of mine the most 8th grade mix ever.
Which I just finished yesterday. And then I spent a nice hour doing 8th grade bubble lettering and little flowers/vines/stars all over the cd cover for it. Gave it a cheesy name "Some Fantastic Feeling", and all that.
It's such an 8th grade mix - it even has "Losing My Religion" by REM. Lessee - Tori Amos, check. Tom Waits, check. REM, check. TMBG, check. Ani DiFranco, check.
And, me being me: Neko Case, Guided by Voices, Fairport Convention, Simon and Garfunkel, Shakira, Me'Shell NdegeOcello, and the Beatles.
It is a very me-ish mix. I think it flows nicely. Pivoting the slow wistful songs to the upbeat, uplifting songs in the middle was tricky.
Hope the recipient likes it.
