Sluggish

Nov. 26th, 2006 02:49 pm
Slept in today till an embarassing hour. I think I'm still catching up after our Thanksgiving Party, which ended a little before 3AM with both of us having to work the next morning. I hate not getting enough sleep. With enough defined as any amount 5hrs or greater, so really I usually manage it.

I hardly ever hit 8 hours, however - the downside of life with a husband with a much later bio-clock than me - given a choice he'd do noon-3am all the time, and I'm more of a 8am-10pm person.

Still trying to finish a mixtape for one friend, and to get somewhere with the story I keep not writing. *bad me*.

*sigh* why is adulthood far more full of studying and compromise than adolescence?
Ages ago I posted about how much I loved the film "The Brothers Grimm" by Terry Gilliam. I was talking with a friend who works at the U of MN on Thanksgiving, and it turns out that she's had a conversation with Jack Zipes (yes, that Zipes, aka editor of "Don't Bet on the Prince", etc...) about the film. And he has the same view of the film that I do! That it's a sort of essay on the development and collection of Germanic folklore at a specific time period - and that it does hold together as a very coherent discussion of that folklore, as opposed to as an action film. At least, this as reported by my friend, rather than as direct report. But I was just very happy to hear that someone like Jack Zipes had seen it that way too.
