1) I just did a document-Find for the word-stem "seem" in my document.  It was an unpleasant and humbling experience.  And I stopped after the first 150 pages.  *shudder*

2) The cat people who have obstinately insisted on showing up throughout this work without explanation have just explained themselves.  Their explanation drew off the proverb "a cat may look at a king" and Rudyard Kipling's story about "The Cat Who Walked by Himself".  Apparently, unbeknownst to me, the world that this novel is set in has a globe-trotting race of interested cat-people observers (I assume they evolved from the ancient Australian felines with the opposable thumbs that my friend [profile] brewergnome told me about one time in phone conversation.)

3) The cat people's explanation caused the hitherto unsuspected dog people to point out that they existed too, thank you.  I suspect that they work primarily as bodyguards, and there won't be any in this story.

4) Now that the cat people have finally explained where they came from, the subsequent chapter where their origin is discussed must be rewritten, as I was talking out of my butt at the time.  Stupid stupid cat-creatures.
