Book meme! Day 1
Jul. 21st, 2010 10:07 pmI'm really happy that
alg came up with this!
BOOK MEME Day 01 - A book series you wish had gone on longer OR a book series you wish would just freaking end already (or both!)
I wish there were more sequels to The Silent Tower, The Silicon Mage, and Dog Wizard by Barbara Hambly. I really like Antryg and Joanna as main characters and enjoyed the world-building, the magical ethics, and the romance. I thought the secondary characters had really enjoyable, complex reasons for their actions.
I'm not sure I'd want more direct sequels - what I'd really want is more books set in that world and era (I liked Stranger at the Wedding, but though it's the same world it's a different era). Following different people, perhaps? And we could have Joanna or Antryg cross the narrative occasionally.
Is it wishing a series would end already if you wished it had gone differently after a certain point? I still love the Young Wizards books (though I haven't read the most recent one yet) but I wish Kit and Nita would finish puberty already. I think my problem is that I started reading the books as a pre-pubescent kid and it's now about 20 years later and Kit and Nita are younger than me now instead of older. I wanted them to age out of middle-grade and into an older YA feel.
