Books: Catching up pre-4th Street

So I'm thinking I should catch up on things pre-4th Street.  To that end I'm merrily reading my way through Inda and sequels (by Sherwood Smith).  I'm up to date, I think, on Lois McMaster Bujold's work.  I'm one behind on the Vlad Taltos books, but that's a quick enough fix.

Please post a comment here if you have recommendations of things I should read as prep/catch-up between now and June 23rd.  They don't have to be by authors who will be at 4th Street - nonfiction etc. recommendations also welcome, though those take longer to read through of course.
