Computers: 1997 vs. 2007

vcmwIn 1996 or 1997, I accidentally turned my mom's computer off without properly logging out of everything. Part of the operating system or something got erased, and we had to take it to a computer store to get fixed.
Just now, my foot slipped and hit the power strip and the computer restarted. After the restart, Firefox asked me if I'd like to go back to browsing the same pages I'd been looking at before the restart. Everything seems normal.
Just saying, y'know: the world gets more convenient every day.
