Books: Quick snapshot
Sep. 16th, 2008 02:43 pmJust for humor's sake, I thought I'd do a post of just what I currently have checked out from the library. Yes, this is the private information that we librarians won't share with anyone. If you are at the library, we won't share this info (and couldn't anyway, as this is a compilation from several separate systems).
It's behind a cut for length.
In no order:
Narcissus in Chains / Laurell K Hamilton (reread)
The Burgermeister's Daughter / Steven Ozment (mostly finished, got bored with, already blogged)
Keturah and Lord Death /Martine Leavitt (award winning YA, finished, for prof. dev.)
Sailing from Byzantium: How a Lost Empire Shaped the World / Colin Wells (very good, finished, already wrote about)
Look Both Ways: Bisexual Politics /Jennifer Baumgardner (finished, amusing memoir-ish nonfic)
The Couriers 02: Dirtbike Manifesto / Brian Wood (graphic novel, not started yet, loved his Channel Zero)
Scandalous / J Torres (graphic novel, not started yet, part of a binge to check out every non superhero comic that looked neglected at a branch)
No Dead Time / McLachlan (graphic novel, see above for Scandalous - haven't started, graphic novel binge)
Grand Theft Childhood: The Surprising Truth About Violent Video Games/ Lawrence Kutner (finished, very good, prof. dev.)
Boys Over Flowers v. 29 / Yoko Kamio (graphic novel, guilty pleasure, prof. dev.)
The Floating Island: The Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme v.1 / Elizabeth Haydon (started)
Valor's Trial / Tanya Huff (finished in two days, auto-read author for me)
Coraline / Neil Gaiman (graphic novel version, fun but prof. dev. for YA graphic novel collection building)
British Drama: An Historical Survey / Allardyce Nicoll (started)
The Would Be Commoner: A Tale of Deception, Murder, and Justice in 17th-Century France / Jeffrey Ravel (started)
I.N.V.U. v.4 (started, prof. dev. for YA manga awareness)
Chiggers / Hope Larson (graphic novel, finished, prof. dev. but also personal - knew the author in Chicago)
The New York Four / Brian Wood (graphic novel, not yet started, prof dev. [I'm reading the whole Minx line] but also like author)
Water Baby / Ross Campbell (graphic novel, not yet started, prof. dev [Minx line, again])
Swords for Hire / Will Allen (not yet started, on recommendation from friend)
The Redward Edward Papers / Avram Davidson (started, I wanted some old school top grade SF writing in my brain again, and Mr. Davidson is so awesome that people forget he wrote stories and start thinking they're folklore or something (re: Or All the Seas with Oysters, if that's the title)
The Summoning / Kelley Armstrong (finished, auto read author and fortuitously prof. dev. for huge vamp/paranormal YA readership at branch)
My Lady Scandalous: The Amazing Life and Outrageous Times of Grace Dalrymple Elliott, Royal Courtesan / Jo Manning (not yet started, I sorta wanted to read this and also I was saving it from weeding at a library system I don't work at)
King Mob: The Story of Lord George Gordon and the London Riots of 1780 / Christopher Hibbert (not yet started, sorta want to read and saving from weeding)
Umm, I should note: this isn't the list of books I'm currently reading, as it leaves out all books I bought to read, am re-reading from my own collection, and have borrowed from friends. This is just the list of what's checked out, excluding music.

A list this size will turn over completely for me about every month. The mix is fairly typical though it's not usually this graphic novel heavy.
